A moving cost calculator, and the site around it

The problem
Hiring a mover means handing a stranger everything you own. People look for proof first, and they want a price they can plan around. A mover who cannot show his licenses and his rates loses the job to one who can. And a quote form that asks too little turns every lead into a long phone call before anyone can name a price.
How it runs
Goes in
- The size of the home
- A name, a phone number, and what is moving
What happens
- The calculator answers with the movers, the hours, and an estimate
- The short form under it is sent
- The estimate rides along in the email
Comes out
- A price on the page the moment a size is picked
- An email to the owner, with the estimate in it
- The exact flat rate, confirmed the same day
What I built
Carrier numbers on the first screen
The company is a family owned mover in Federal Way, in business since 2011. The state and federal carrier numbers are on the first screen. A customer can check that the company is legal before reading another word.
A flat hourly rate, stated
The hourly rate is flat and it is stated on the home page. The customer knows the price before the truck arrives and can plan the move around it. Someone who only wanted to know the rate finds it without calling.
A calculator that answers at once
On the quote page the customer picks the size of the home, and the calculator answers at once with the number of movers, the hours, and an estimate. A short form under it takes a name, a phone number, and what is moving. The estimate rides along in the email to the owner, so he can confirm the exact flat rate the same day.
The quote form on the home page asks the move size, the date, whether packing is needed, and the stairs at both addresses. Those are the questions a mover needs to price the job.
Reviews from Google
The first screen shows the company’s Google rating, 5.0 from 116 reviews when the screenshot above was taken, read straight from Google. With a mover, the customer cannot inspect the work before it happens. What other customers said is the closest thing to proof.
A page for each service and each town
The site has 23 pages, with 6 service pages and 10 town pages around the South Sound.
The result
A customer sees the carrier number, the flat hourly rate, and 116 Google reviews on the first screen, and a price the moment they pick a size.
